The first law of Thermodynamics: 

The first law of Thermodynamics says energy will neither be built nor destroyed. But it can be changed sometimes. It is switched from one form to another. 
In other words, It is also known as the law of conservation of energy.

  • Some transformation between the several forms of energy is included in the process. But gives no information about the feasibility of such transformation. It is a type of Limitations of First Law of Thermodynamics
  • It does not give any information about the path of a process. The process will take whether. It is a spontaneous process. It is also a non-spontaneous process. 
  • It is not possible to convert heat energy into 100 percent equal work. 
  • It does not clarify anything about the path of the flow of heat. The first law does not declare whether. Heat can flow from a cold end to a hot end or not. Approximately it is not possible to renovate the heat energy into the same amount of work. 
  • It does not indicate the feasibility of the process. The process will stop when equilibrium is achieved.
  • It states that the link between different energy for a process. But it doesn’t explain whether a process is spontaneous or not.  The reaction is possible by itself or not.


In the second law of Thermodynamics, the spontaneous nature is explained. It is part of Limitations of the first Law of Thermodynamics

Second Law of Thermodynamics:


1)The Spontaneous nature:- A process which under given conditions can take place by itself or by initiation.
 
Example:- Flow of water down the hill.
 
2) The Non-Spontaneous nature:- Which cannot take place by itself or by initiation. They require driving force.
 
Example:- Flowing of water up a hill.

EXAMPLES :

  • If a cup of hot tea is in a cool room the heat transfer to the surroundings. 
  • Water stored at the hill comes down the hill. 
  • Rod of iron heated at one end.

  • Exhaust:  In this process pushed out the burnt gas.
